Shot/reverse shot

Shot/reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other, even though they may not be.

The 180 degree rule

Within a scene, two subjects should always have the same right/left relationship e.g. person blue on the left and person orange on the right. However, if the camera passes over an imaginary axis, it is called crossing the line.
This would results in person blue now being on the right and person orange on the left. This would be disorientating for the viewer and is called the reverse angle
